SMS stands for Stock Market Simulation. The word simulation means that the SMS is more than just a game. It is a tool that teachers use along with the newspaper to help instruct their students in the world of economics, finance, business, current events, math, social studies and technology. Teams of students "buy" and "sell" stocks over a ten week trading period using an imaginary portfolio of $100,000.
